Selma Softball Tournament Information

There are no pets allowed at either of the three facilities - no exceptions.  I am telling you now, if a parent brings their dog/cat/snake/gopher/iguana/calf/etc., I will inform the parent that their coach was aware of the rule and that YOU did not tell them they couldn't bring their animal even though I went out of my way to emphasize the point.

REVISION: Teams may bring one (1) team ice chest to the facility.  A sticker will be placed on one ice chest to ensure it has entered the facility.  Once the sticker has been handed out, do not attempt to bring in another ice chest - we will not allow it's entry.  Please inform your parents of this rule.

There is a $3 per day gate fee for adults and $1 fee for children.  Just like with the no animals, you need to let your parents know in advance about the gate fee so they are not caught off guard.  3 coaches per team will not be charged the gate fee.  If you have more than 3 on your coaching staff, the fourth person will be required to pay (and every coach after that).

There isn't much shade at either of the three facilities.  Dugouts are covered, but your parents should bring pop-ups.

The weather is predicted to hit high 90's.  Be sure your players are drinking plenty of water.  If your players are thirsty, they aren't drinking enough.  Instruct your parents to have them drink extra water before, during and after games.

Pay attention to your catchers/pitchers.  With all the gear they wear and all the work the do, they are at a higher risk of dehydration and over heating.  You should bring towels soaked in cool water to keep around their necks when they're in the dugout.  Are you familiar with the courtesy runner rule?  You can put a runner in for your catcher and pitcher for free.  Talk to the umpire about this if you're not sure how it works.

I will be sending the rules in a separate email.

We will not provide first aid supplies.  You have your own first aid kits - please use them. You can get ice from the snack bar for injuries, but you need something to put the ice in.

As per Central Cal ASA requirements:  ALL COACHES MUST WEAR THEIR COACH ID CARD.   Don't even think about stepping on the field without one.  There will be no exceptions.  Your coach ID card is to be visible when you are in the dugout or on the field.

If a coach is ejected from a game that coach will not be allowed to coach in the following game as well.  It is your job to control your fans.  Out of control fans can result in the offending team's coach being ejected.  If the umpire gives you a warning about your fans, you should call a time out and address your fans.  Be aware, I will notify your league of any coach or parent ejections or if someone exhibits exceptionally bad behavior.

It is the responsibility of the HOME team to turn in the game score.  You will be given "Game Summary" sheets in your check in packet. I expect you to turn in the game sheet as required, right after your game(s).

Game Times:
1:20 for each game (including Championship games)
No new inning after 1:20 - no Drop Dead rule (the inning must finish)

If you have any questions/concerns, please let me know ASAP.
